Stonehenge

This past Saturday was the SUHC walk to Stonehenge. In my very first week in Southampton, I visited Stonehenge and the Salisbury Cathedral as part of an International Students Induction Programme. One of my very first picture postings on this website is of that event, and the old gallery can be viewed here.
Having missed the SUHC walk for two years running (no pun intended), I decided it was time to give it a go this year.
Through the fields we walked, roughly from Salisbury to Amesbury. The light was somewhat variable, but the skies started to clear a bit towards the end of the day.
The autumn colours are especially bright this year, as England has experienced a longer and milder fall than most years. The light was beautiful as we approached the ‘golden hours.’ Simon is a good friend of mine, and he rightly deserves the title of ‘Most Photogenic Hillwalker,’ as affirmed by his pose below.
Finally, we neared upon Stonehenge itself. It was getting quite cold at this time, though the light continued to create a lovely, soft atmosphere.
This was a very common sight, as many people just had to have a picture of Stonehenge, but were unwilling to pay the 7 or so quid that it costs to enter Stonehenge.
Well, who am I to go against the flow! All in all, a very nice walk with some fair photographic opportunities. Total cost? 8.30 in public transport and a mild sore throat :)
